It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Lillian Beatrice Esopenko. Lillian was born in Cochrane, AB, the third child of Dora and Julius Zang, with three sisters and one brother. She began her career as a cashier at Eatons, where she met the love of her life, Mike Esopenko. They married in 1949 and soon welcomed two sons, Wayne and Brian. Lillian cherished her sons and her grandson, Wesley; they were the light of her life. Recently, Wesley and his spouse, Yasemin welcomed a beautiful great-granddaughter, Willow Lillian, whose arrival brought Lillian immense joy. She took great pride in her large yard and beautiful roses, tending to them until just three days before her passing.
Lillian is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Brian & Anita; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Wesley & Yasemin; great-granddaughters, Scarlett and Willow. She is also mourned by her sister Evelyn Cote, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Lillian was predeceased by her husband Mike in 1982, and her son Wayne in 2002.
A Celebration of Lillian’s life will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL (3220 4th Street NW, Calgary AB on Friday, August 2, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. with interment to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
