Kim was born in Calgary on December 4, 1961, the only child to her parents. She was a smart and ambitious girl, graduating from Diefenbaker High School and finding herself a job in banking in her late teens and early twenties.
Her battle with mental illness began when she was 25 and governed the rest of her life. It disrupted many of her hopes and dreams. Through it all, Kim never gave up, smiled and laughed as much as possible, and adapted as best she could. She made many friends along the way and was always up for a chat and a visit.
Kim loved all animals, especially dogs and cats. Her favourite things to do were to drive, shop, and go to the Stampede in her younger years. She enjoyed meals at Denny’s with friends, playing cards, and doing crafts as she became less mobile. She also enjoyed music, gardening, and children of all ages, especially her nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her stepfather Donald Ross, stepsisters Christine Warrack (Jeff) and Lisa Kempton (Jason), stepbrothers Andy Ross, Greg Ross, and Jason Kempton (Leal), Aunt Joyce Weiler (Paul), Uncle Ken Kluk (Inge), and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces. Kim was predeceased by her mother Audrey Ross, her father Robert Kempton, and her cousin Kevin Weiler.
There will be a Memorial Service for Kim on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at Foster’s Garden Chapel (3220 – 4th Street NW Calgary) at 10:00 am. Interment of her urn will follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens (1605 – 100 Street SE Calgary).
