Karen Anne Roe passed away peacefully at the Dulcina Hospice on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 61 years.
Karen was born in Kingston Ontario on November 13, 1957. She met the love of her life, Bob Roe, in 1975 while he was renting a house from her parents. They moved to Spruce Grove, Alberta in 1980 and were married that same year. They welcomed their son, Benjamin John Frederick into this world in 1981 and their daughter Sarah Anne in 1984. The family followed Bob’s job to Radville, Saskatchewan in 1995 and they finally settled in Calgary, Alberta when Bob retired in 2001. Karen started working for Alberta Health Services in 2001 and remained there until her recent passing. She spent most of her career at Foothills Hospital and loved all of the different positions that she held over the years.
Karen is lovingly remembered by her son, Benjamin Roe, her daughter, Sarah Roe and her granddaughter, Brooklyn Roe all of Calgary. She is also survived by her brothers, David Leavitt (Joanne) and Fred Leavitt (Karen); her sister, Kathy Van Vlack and her nieces and nephews whom each held a special place in her heart.
Karen was predeceased by her husband Bob in 2003, her father Winston Leavitt and her mother Annabelle Leavitt.
A Celebration of Karen’s Life will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery), on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. The family has requested bright colours to be worn in Karen’s honour.
