Joyce passed away peacefully in Campbell River, BC on November 24, 2017 at the age of 89 years. Joyce is survived by her five children, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren by whom she will be lovingly remembered. She will also be missed by other family and friends. Joyce was predeceased by her husband Frank, of 51 years, sister Irene, two grandchildren and a son-in-law. Joyce was born in the farming town of Macrorie, Sask. and moved to Calgary in 1942 with her family. After graduating from Western Canada High School, she worked for 15 years with Retail Credit Company (currently known as Equifax), leaving that job to raise her children. Once her children were school-aged she worked as a Tupperware dealer quickly advancing to manager for several years. While known for opening their home to friends and strangers alike, in retirement, Frank and Joyce were the host family to many international students studying English as a second language. In 2012, Joyce moved to Campbell River, BC where she enjoyed the beauty of the ocean and trees and seeing children play in the park from her apartment above. Always the matriarch, memories of family gatherings from holiday meals to picnics in the park will bring smiles for years to come. Joyce was a faithful Christian and active member of the church of Christ attending the Northside congregation in Calgary and the congregation in Campbell River. She was a beloved Bible school teacher from the age of 14 through her 70’s and enjoyed sharing her love of Christ with all. A memorial service will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel Funeral Home, 3220 4 St NW, Calgary on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018 at 10:00 am.
