Joe is loved and remembered by his wife of 62 years, Annabell; children, Willis (Joan) Johnson of Bakersfield California, Joanne (Randy) Parsons of Calgary, Beth (Lee) Crumly of Clive, Ken (Brenda) Johnson of Acme, and Kathy (Bruce) Coates of East Coulee; 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; sisters, Marion Yates of Hanna, Mabel Langmo of Kelowna, B.C., and Olive Taferner of Vernon, B.C.; brothers, Ike of Sicamous, B.C., Hugh of Vancouver, B.C., and Paul of Houston, B.C., and numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, family and friends. Joe was predeceased by grandchildren, Alexis Crumly and Bruce Johnson; mother and father, Crystal and Walter Johnson; sisters, Grace Webster, Violet Ferguson, Dorothy Brennan, and Mary Johnson; brothers, Walter, George, Carl, Pat, and Charles Johnson. Joe was born June 1, 1926 at Halkirk, Alberta. He worked in the coal mines at Halkirk as a young man. Joe and his brother, George, went to Kansas custom combining and worked their way back home. Joe started farming at Forestburg, and later farmed at Erskine, Stettler and Acme. He retired and moved to Airdrie in 2006, enjoying time with family, friends and neighbours. With his deep faith, love for people, and sense of humor, Joe won the hearts of many, young and old.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Airdrie Town and Country Centre Community Hall, 103-275 Jensen Drive, Airdrie, AB on Friday, January 23, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to Stars Air Ambulance, 1441 Aviation Park N.E., Box 570, Calgary, AB T2E 8M7or on line at www.stars.ca.
