Joseph Andrew (“Joe”) Gruszecki passed away on Monday, May 2, 2022 at the South Calgary Health Campus. Joe was born near High Tor, Saskatchewan on March 27, 1932. Joe was predeceased by his parents John and Paulina, his sister Janet, and brother, Walter. Joe married the love of his life, Lucy Ann Chiarizio (“Lou”) in July of 1958 in Calgary. Joe was one of the last true “renaissance men” and was capable of fixing and building most anything. He held certifications as Refrigeration Mechanic, Welder, Electrician, Boiler Maker, Steam Fitter, Pipe Fitter, Heavy Duty Mechanic and more. Joe’s efforts through his company Glacial Refrigeration, and his colleagues at Startec Refrigeration Services were a great source of pride to him. His quick wit and eagerness to help and his incredible abilities made him a friend to many, and was welcomed by all!
Joe will be forever remembered and deeply missed by family and friends who loved him, but we are thankful for the 90 years we had with him. Our thanks to the kind and caring staff and residents at the Father Lacombe Care Society and the Doctors and Nurses at the South Calgary Health Campus.
A celebration of his life will be held at SOUTH CALGARY FUNERAL CENTRE, 12700 Macleod Trail South (at Lake Fraser Gate), on Friday May 13, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.
