Jerry passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the Peter Lougheed Centre after an illness. He spent the majority of his life working as an Iron Worker with Local 725. Jerry worked on buildings all over Calgary and so many other projects over the years. He was proud to be an Iron Worker. After retiring at 60, he spent the next 20 years as a pilot car driver. He spent most of his time volunteering at the Renfrew Community Centre.
More than anything Jerry was a wonderful husband, a great father to his kids and a wonderful grandfather. He would help anyone that needed it, friends, family or neighbours. All you had to do was ask and he would be there.
He will be sadly missed by his brother Lavern; children Laurie (Guy), Sherry, Robert, Donnie and Lanny (John); as well as grandchildren Doug, Jason, Harlan, Tyler, Kaylan, James, Chelsey, Codi, Ryan and China.
He was predeceased by many family members over the years, most importantly his wife, Joan, 9 years ago. We believe you are now back together and watching over all of us. Rest in Peace.
A Memorial Service will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4th Street NW, Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery), on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made directly to the The Calgary Firefighters Burn Treatment Society, www.cfbts.org.
Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
