Jean Shelby Diamond passed away on September 17, 2014. Jean joined her dearly beloved Ron, who passed away December 20, 2006. Mom to Linda (Richard), Cathy (Jay), Ron (Lori), Glenda (Norman), Janice (Joe) and Richard (Kristine). Nanny to Tara (Chris), Geoff, Kristin (Mike), Kelsey, Jerod (Chelsey), Kyle, Chad, Blake, Jessa, Shyla, Marshall, McKenzie, Shiraya, Avery, Haidan, Derek, Lincoln and Kiara. Survived by her loving sisters Sylvia, Kayda and Lesha. Predeceased by her mother Nora, father Fred, brothers Roy and Buddy and grandson Geoff.
Mom was born in Toronto, Ontario and after marrying Ron his military career took them across Canada. From 1957 until 1972 their travels took them to Kingston, Ontario; Crossroads, PEI; Shilo, Manitoba and Petawawa, Ontario. In 1972 they settled in Calgary.
Mom began working for the Calgary School Board in 1974 part time and retired in 2000. Over her 26 year career she was the first woman in Canada to pass both the Boiler A and B tickets. She was the first woman to be the shift supervisor of Custodial Services at Central Memorial Senior High School. She proudly held the position of Secretary for the CUPE 40 Union for over a decade.
Mom enjoyed camping, fishing, bowling, card nights, bingo, casino, knitting, sewing and quilting … most of all she enjoyed doing all this with her family, who she dedicated her life to.
She enjoyed travelling with Ron and her special Vegas trips with her daughters.

A Memorial Reception to honour and celebrate Jean’s life was held at South Calgary Funeral Centre, 12700 Macleod Trail South on Monday, September 29, 2014 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.
