Fay was born in Bok Kin, Hoy Ping, China on October 15, 1933. He came to Canada in July, 1950 to join his father where they operated a cafe in Nanton, Alberta. He married Jean in Hong Kong in 1958. They moved to Calgary where he worked at the Jade Palace Restaurant and the Calgary Inn Hotel. In 1969, he became the owner of Wildwood Food Store which he operated for the next 25 years. After retirement, he travelled widely with his wife, family, and friends. They favoured travel by cruise ship. There was always a bigger and newer ship to be enjoyed.
Fay will be sadly missed by Jean, his beloved wife of over 60 years; his four children, Alex (Diana), Colleen (Ben), Eileen (Cory), and Vincent (Alva); and seven grandchildren, Antheia, Derek, Gabriella, Caeden, Cian, Henry, and Sofia. He was dedicated to his children and grandchildren and offered every support to them. Fay is also survived by many relatives in China.
He was predeceased by his parents, Shing Hoy and Dai Fung Leong, and sister, Siu Yen Deng.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at a visitation held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 - 4 Street NW, Calgary on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 between 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
A Funeral Service will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at 1:30 PM with The Reverend Dr. John W.S. Kong officiating. Interment will follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
The family wish to express their deep appreciation for the care provided by Carewest Sarcee and by Dr. Han Friesen and the staff of Unit 72 at the Rockyview Hospital.
