Gee Ping (Joe) Yuen

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gee Ping (Joe) Yuen, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, who left us peacefully on Monday, March 17, 2025 at the age of 86 years.

Joe was born on February 24, 1939, in Changde Village, Guangdong Province, China.

He had a very generous nature. Joe cherished the precious moments he spent with his family.

Joe was a man whose core values revolved around family and togetherness. He believed that the greatest gift one could have was the love of family. The dinner table was always a gathering place, where stories were shared, laughter echoed, and memories were created.

Throughout his life, Joe demonstrated unwavering support and dedication to his loved ones. He celebrated every milestone, big or small, and was often the first to lend a helping hand in times of need. Joe will be deeply missed. The values of family and togetherness he imparted will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Joe is survived by his devoted wife Kathy; his children; Glenn (Joyce), Garry (Laura), Michael (Ellen), and Cindy (Jeremy); his loving grandchildren; Wesley, Ryan, Maya, Sophia, Alexander, and Kinley; his sister; Holly Li (Pak Sun) and family; his brothers; Hong (Man Li) and family, Kenny (Mary) and family and a wide circle of friends. Everyone was blessed by his kindness and generosity. As we gather to honor Joe’s memory, we will reflect on the beautiful moments we shared and the legacy of family he leaves behind.

We are sincerely grateful for the care and compassion Joe received while in Foothills Hospital.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at a visitation held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Friday, March 28, 2025 at 9:00 a.m.

A Funeral Service will follow at 10:00 a.m. where family and friends are invited to come together in remembrance and to share their stories of a man who valued his family above all else.

We will miss you Papa Joe. Your love will forever be the heartbeat of our family.
