Esther Siemens went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at the age of 100 years. She was a special, kind and loving person whose memory will be cherished by her family, friends and all who knew her. Esther grew up on a farm near Cowley, AB, and was the first born of five children. She was 16 years old when her mother died and had to take over the responsibilities of her younger siblings and their home. Esther attended bible school, and taught vocational bible school. She worked for Berean Bible College, and for 29 years she was secretary at Bethel Baptist Church. Esther met the love of her life Ben Siemens. They enjoyed traveling and camping together. Esther enjoyed life; she traveled to Europe, Alaska and North America from coast to coast. She loved politics and her English heritage; she could not wait to receive her birthday wishes from the Queen for her 100 birthday. From horse power to space travel to the latest technologies, she even tried her hand at using a computer. It was a sad day for her when she had to give up her driver’s license at the ripe old age of 98 years; to her, this was the loss of her independence. Auntie loved life and lived it to the fullest “her way”. A Funeral Service will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., with interment to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
