Dora Josephine Cole departed for her next journey on Tuesday, May 17, 2016. Her family and friends will miss her greatly. Josie was who everyone referred to as a “character”; she was funny and possessed a keen sense of humour. Josie was born in Manitou, Manitoba, on December 21, 1922. She loved to tell folks that they could not get to the hospital so she was born in a tepee.
After living through the Depression with her eight siblings, she married her husband Kenneth Cole. They loved their dogs, camping and travelling. Josie created beautiful crafts that we all enjoyed receiving. She had a huge heart and was unshakably loyal to family and friends.
Josie was recognized as the first female Canadian Boy Scout Leader. She attended Jamborees with her boys and camped with them for many years.
The picture we chose of Josie was the one that depicted her favourite holiday with her favourite cat Pumpkin.
Our family would like to send a big "thank-you" to The Beverly Glenmore for making Josie's last couple of years happy and comfortable. We would also like to express our gratitude to Rockyview General Hospital for providing her with comfort and care throughout her last couple of days.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations being made in Josie’s memory directly to the Salvation Army, (online http://www.salvationarmy.org/ or by phone 1-800-725-2769).
