Dale was an extremely strong and optimistic person, who always saw blue sky behind the clouds. She will be remembered for her contagious laugh and ability to smile and wait for the sun to come out during times of happiness and adversity.
Dale dedicated her life to being an excellent mother, daughter and friend, constantly putting others before herself. Forever a dreamer, she had a love for imagination and adventure. She raised her two daughters, Chantel (Jack) and Rachel, with a focus on bringing magic and fun into both everyday outings and special holidays.
Born and raised in Calgary to German parents, Horst and Louise, Dale was a creative child who loved unique crafts, drawing and spending time with animals. As a family, the Schroeder’s cherished camping and taking long road trips, which sparked Dale’s travel bug throughout her lifetime.
In her later years, Dale enjoyed home DIY projects and working on creating her own little oasis in the backyard, or as she liked to say, the “Secret Garden.”
Her sense of adventure took her on many weekend trips to the mountains and travelling to destinations in the United States, Mexico, Costa Rica, Europe, Vancouver and Nova Scotia.
In her spare time, Dale also enjoyed attending the ballet, jazz concerts and arts/culture events; golfing; going to the zoo; taking long walks through Calgary parks and laughing with all the special people in her life.
A sincere thank you to Dale’s wonderful friends and family, and to the amazing team at the Agape Hospice, who helped Dale through her final days.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Dale’s life at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
