Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland on July 23, 1936 she lived a self-described wonderful childhood on McDonnell Street surrounded by a large loving family and community. She immigrated to Canada at the young age of 20 and married Hugh Doran. Together they made a family and life in a world very different than their Irish homeland. They returned back to Ireland where our father lived out the rest of his life. Following his passing we brought mum back to her beloved Canada. We are greatly comforted by the knowledge they are together again.
Anne leaves behind her children Deirdre (John), Marian (Ron) and Sean (Katy) as well as her cherished grandchildren Brendan, Conor, Ryan, Emma and Sophie. In Ireland, she was predeceased by her brother Frank and sisters Mary and Sadie. She leaves behind her brother Billy and sisters Lily (John), Rita and Therese. She also leaves behind special sister and brother in laws Josie and Jim Ferris and Jim and Maureen Doran. In addition, the many nieces and nephews who made their lives so meaningful when they returned back to Ireland.
Cremation will be at South Calgary Funeral Centre and we will be returning mum back to her homeland to rest with our father.
A Memorial Service and Mass for her will be arranged for a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations being made in Anne’s memory directly to the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation, #100, 119 – 14 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta T2N 1Z6
