Ann passed peacefully in her sleep August 26, 2022 at the age of 96. She was born in Victoria, BC February 2, 1926 but moved and spent her childhood and early adulthood in a small village Toisan, Canton, China where she met and married Ken Yee.
Accompanied by her two eldest children Leslie and Bill, she returned to Vancouver, BC via steam ship in 1953. This was a long and arduous journey not fit for infants. Jack was only a few months old and was to follow the family to Vancouver in 1954. Raising 5 children did not come easy, her growing family now included Jim and Linda.
For many years she toiled in poor working conditions for minimal wages at a few dry cleaning businesses. Her dedication to her children was her top priority and the major source of her pride and joy. Now all are successful and two are grandparents of their own,
Ann did not have any hobbies or outside interests. In the early days she made her own clothing and was a diligent seamstress sewing at home on her Singer sewing machine. Ann did not have much spare time but found time to knit sweaters for her children and blankets for her newborn grandchildren.
She is survived by an extensive family including her daughter Leslie Chow (Don Lee) and Leslie’s daughter Christina Chow and her children Naiya and Markus Skolaude; and daughter Catherine Chow.
Sadly her son Bill passed in 2019 but he lives on through daughter-in-law Laura; and, their daughter Mandi Sim (Heng) and their daughters Parker and Taylor; and, son Gregory (Jasmine) and their children Georgia and Grayson.
Ann is also survived by sons Jack (Sharon) and their sons Jared and Justin; and, Jim (Pam) and their son Joshua and daughter Shyla.
Ann was also heartbroken when daughter Linda passed in 2009. However, Linda (Dave) and their sons Alex and Derek Brown continue to be integral parts of Ann’s legacy; 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Ann will be forever missed. With love, Rest in Peace.
The Family would like to thank.....
Ann’s caregivers at Wing Kei Greenview for the love and care they extended to her, as well as all who have extended well wishes.
