Al Wright passed away peacefully in the presence of family in Calgary, AB on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at the age of 93 years. He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Margaret, in 2014, and daughter, Laura, in 2004. Al is lovingly remembered by his children Lloyd (Betty), Ann (Bill), and Linda (Paul), and was the very proud grandparent of five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Al touched many people throughout his life and will always be fondly remembered by his large extended family and his many friends.
Al was born on the farm in Aylesbury, Sask. on September 15, 1924. He farmed there for many years and was involved with the local curling and skating rinks, the United Church and the Masonic Lodge. He loved to fish, and enjoyed watching sports on TV (especially the Riders!) After retirement, Al and Margaret moved to Victoria, BC for 16 years and thoroughly loved life on the west coast. Eight years ago, they moved to Calgary to be closer to family and cherished the friendships made with Aspen Community residents, staff and home care angels. He was known as “my pal Al” by one of his many close friends there. He was a wonderful husband, father, grand and great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend; he loved so many people and was loved by so many.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Celebration of Al’s Life to be held at Aspen Community, (1171 Bow Valley Lane NE), on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the Canadian Cancer Society (1-888-939-3333).
He is now on a “Sentimental Journey” to reunite with Margaret, Laura, and other family and friends who have gone before him.
