Alice Joyce Crawford (nee Pugh), born December 4, 1923, passed away peacefully at the Southwood Hospice on May 23, 2017 at the age of 93 years. She leaves to mourn son Jack (Linda); daughters Joy and Susan (Steven); grandchildren Barb (Eoin) with great-granddaughter Alice Dunne, Cathy, and Dave (Mallory) with great-grandson Robert Crawford. She was predeceased by her brothers Gerald and George Pugh.
Alice was born in Strasbourg, SK and raised in Wolseley, SK, Victoria, BC and Winnipeg, MB. She married the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Theodore Crawford, in May of 1948 and together they moved to Flin Flon, MB before moving to Calgary in 1954 with their then two children. She enjoyed curling, golf and cross-country skiing with Bob and they were longtime members of the Westwinds Curling Club and the Pinebrook Golf and Country Club. She twice represented Alberta at the Canadian Seniors Curling Championships and was for a number of years the ladies’ seniors champion at Pinebrook. Summers were always spent at the family cottage at Victoria Beach, MB.
A Celebration of Alice’s Life will be held at SOUTH CALGARY FUNERAL CENTRE, 12700 Macleod Trail South (at Lake Fraser Gate), on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.
The family would like to acknowledge the superb care Alice received from the staff at the Southwood Hospice.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations being made to charity of the donor’s choice.
