It is with great sadness that the Bell family announces the peaceful passing of Albert in his 92nd year on Tuesday, May 5, 2020. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 64 years Marjorie (nee Bradshaw), and children Donna, Joyce (Fred), Cameron (Andrea), Carmen (Jim). He cherished his grandchildren, Lucas, Drew, Kale, Eric (Michelle), Alex (Sarah), Jocelyn (Alan), Matthew (Samantha), Liam, Jared, and Clay. Proud great-grandpa to Katelyn, Landon, and Sloan, as well as many nieces and nephews and a host of cherished friends.
Predeceased by his parents Stewart and Rose Bell of Carbon, Alberta and siblings Ellen, Andrew, George and James. Survived by his sister Marie Saunders and sister-in-law Johann Bell.
Al’s early career was building roads all across the province of Alberta with his young family in tow. Al and Marj settled in Calgary in 1961 and Al worked as a heavy equipment operator, truck driver and in the automotive paint shop for Gallelli and Sons, Conmac, and Lafarge Canada. Al and Marj spent many happy winters at their retirement home in Yuma, Arizona and became active members in the community. They explored the Gila mountains and surrounding desert in their dune buggy, learned to play golf, hosted washer tournaments, and enjoyed happy hour. Al and Marj were honored with a lifetime membership to the Thorncliffe Greenview Community Association where they were active volunteers. Al was also a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion #284 since its opening. Al enjoyed a good glass of his homemade wine, a game of cribbage, FaceTiming with his great-grandchildren and walking his faithful companion Gizmo. We will miss him dearly.
Donations may be made in honor of Albert to STARS (https://stars.ca/) or a favorite charity. Cremation has taken place; a celebration of life will be held later in the year.
