Richard Flier Sr., age 88, ran joyfully into the arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday morning, January 28, 2023. While we mourn the loss of our father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, we know that his inheritance has been fulfilled as promised through the Resurrection of Jesus.
His wife Linda went before him as did his daughter, Jacqueline; son, Mark; two infant children; and his grandson, Tyler. He leaves behind his children Richard Flier Jr. (Cindy), Luanne Schierbeek (Marv), Lisa Blain (Randy), Joel Flier (Joanne), Calvin Schans; sister, Alma Russo; brothers- and sisters-in-law Mari Bazan, Wes and Millie Bazan, Mary Katerberg, Pat Lettinga; and his best friend, Al Hielkema.
Richard’s pride and joy was his 17 grandchildren and his 31 great-grandchildren. He loved going to birthday parties, sporting events, and holiday celebrations where he could spend time with them. His hugs, kisses, and “I love yous” were never in short supply! We will miss that the most!
A Celebration of Richard’s Life will commence 11 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2023, with visitation one hour prior, at Woodhaven Reformed Church, 3959 68th Street SW, Byron Center, MI 49315. Pastor Jon Alexanian will be officiating. In honor of Richard and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Interment will be at Winegar Cemetery. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at www.cookcaresbyron.com.
