He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 31 years, Eva; children Justin (Kaitlyn) Vander Woude and Amanda (Andrew) Lahr; brother, Doug (Amy) Vander Woude; mother, Bernice Vander Woude; and many other extended family members.
Jon was born March 20, 1964 in Grand Rapids, MI. He attended Unity Christian High School and Calvin College. He married Eva in 1991, and they raised their two children, Justin and Amanda, in Byron Center. He was passionate about his family, always a supportive and encouraging husband and father.
He was a captivating storyteller with a great sense of humor. He made everyone he met feel good and treated them with respect, no matter their walk in life. He was always genuine, hard-working, and generous with his thoughts, time, and resources.
Jon was also passionate about his hobbies. He was an avid automotive enthusiast. He enjoyed taking his cars on the track, both in real life and on his simulator. When given the chance, he would gladly show you pictures and tell you all about it.
Jon was passionate about his home state of Michigan but also enjoyed vacationing throughout the U.S. and traveling abroad.
His love, passion, and encouragement will be carried in his family’s hearts forever.
Jon’s family will greet relatives and friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, August 14, 2023 at Cook Funeral Home (2067 84th St. SW, Byron Center). Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 15 at Cornerstone Church - South Wyoming Campus (2730 56th St. SW, Wyoming), with visitation at the church one hour prior to the service.
