Esther Joy Van Dam, age 85, went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, December 29, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents Erwin and Vera Martin; second husband, William Van Dam; first husband, Jack Halsey; brother, Daryl Martin; son, Steve Van Dam; in-laws Amy Martin, Elwood and Marion Halsey, Ava and Merle Burdick, Norm and Carol Van Dam, Dorothy Mesbergen; nephew, Steve Burdick.
She will be lovingly missed by children Todd (Lavonne) Halsey, Nancy (Rob) Kennicott; grandchildren Hannah (John) Nagelkerk, Blake Halsey, Leah Kennicott, Rachel (Alex) Smith, Jayne (Rick) Browley, Steven (Katie) Kennicott; great-grandchildren Carter and Mason Nagelkerk, Jack Ruben, Olivia and Molly Smith, Taryn, Rickey, and McKenna Browley, Arlee and Millie Kennicott; siblings Lu (Ardath) Martin, Bob Martin, Jan Martin, Al (Jan) Martin; in-laws Valerie Lee, Harriet Stanaback, Ron (Mary Jane) Van Dam; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Esther loved the Lord with all her heart, as anyone who met her would be able to tell you. Throughout her life she enjoyed doing various crafts and selling them at craft fairs. She loved to laugh and was always ready with a quirky joke or quote.
Visitation with Esther’s family and friends will be held from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Cook Funeral Home, 2067 84th St. SW, Byron Center. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2023 with visitation beginning at 10 a.m at Byron Center Bible Church, 8855 Byron Center Ave. SW, Byron Center, 49315. Pastor Tuinstra will be officiating.
