Valerie Jeanne Dickinson

A native of San Francisco, she moved to Burney in 1971 when she & husband, Richard, purchased the Texaco gas station. She later worked for the Burney Water District as the office manager. After moving to the Sacramento area in 1985, she worked for the Employment Development Department until her retirement and then returned to Burney to live.

Valerie was active in the VFW Auxiliary in Burney and was a member of the Balboa High School (San Francisco, Calif.) Alumni Association and a life member of Theta Rho Girls Club (San Francisco).

She is survived by her daughter, Lori Francis of Eugene, Ore.; granddaughter Sarah Francis of Portland, Ore.; and brother John (Jack) (Bonnie) Hirshfeld, Jr. of San Rafael, Calif. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard (Dick), and her son, Gary.

Friends are invited to attend a memorial mass at noon on Saturday, May 20th at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Burney followed by a reception at the VFW Hall in Burney.
