Virginia VanBerg

Mrs. VanBerg was born in College Station the daughter of Charles Benjamin Nichols and William Estelle Jones, August 11th, 1919. She spent many happy years growing up in San Marcos with her five sisters and brother. She was an avid swimmer, an accomplished knitter, sewed many of her families clothing, and loved to dance. Virginia attended Lutheran Jr. College and was employed by the law office of Darden, Esquire in Conroe Texas. She also worked for the Texas Department of Highways.

Virginia fell in love with and married Charles VanBerg in 1942, in Austin, Texas. She loved children; with complications of early pregnancies they decided to adopt to begin their family. In a few years she was able to successfully carry to term two of their own. Later in their life together they adopted yet again. While Texas was their home, his work transferred their family throughout the country as well as South America where they lived for eight years.

She moved home to Texas with her husband when he retired, just across from where they had their first date in 1941 on Inks Lake. After the death of her husband Charles she has lived with her son Michael and his wife Kathleen in their home until her death.

Survivors include one sister, Mattie Eva Dinick of Cypress, Texas, her daughter Joellyn VanBerg, of Miami, Florida, her sons; Charles VanBerg of Mansfield, David VanBerg of Mineral Wells, and Michael VanBerg along with their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and close friends.

Services will be held Saturday February 14, 2015 at 12:00 PM at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, Burnet interment to follow at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park.
