Thomas C. Van Zandt, age 74 of Burnet, TX, passed away peacefully at home, where he wanted to be, on Monday October 24, 2022. He was born June 10, 1948 in Gorman, Texas to Bernard "Van" and Virginia Wallace Van Zandt, the second of three children.
He grew up in De Leon, Texas where he had many close friends. He attended Tarleton State then and then enlisted in the Air Force in 1968. He was stationed at Beale AFB in California. There he met his wife Loretta. They married and were together 51 years until his death.
In 1988 he moved to their house on Lake Buchanan and enjoyed that immensely. The two of them lived there for 20 years and raised their boys there.
He worked for the DPS 1973 until he retired in 1998.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents in 1986.
He is survived by his wife Loretta, sons Brad, Greg and partner Troy Clary. He is also survived by siblings Gerald Van Zandt of De Leon, Terri Van Zandt of Asheville, North Carolina, and nephews Bart and Bubba Van Zandt of Comanche, Texas.
Per his request, there will be no service. He will be cremated and his ashes scattered.
