She married James “Jimmy” Paul Douglas on December 23, 1960 after meeting and falling in love at Lee College. Sarah was married to Jimmy for 52 years until his death. They had three wonderful children and a blessed life.
Sarah was passionate about politics. She began her career working in the Mayor’s office in Pasadena, TX. She finished her career as a staff assistant to Congressman Mike Andrews. She and Jimmy moved from Pasadena to Burnet in 1995. Sarah was a member of the First Baptist Church in Burnet. She loved sharing her hope and faith in her Lord and Savior. She enjoyed getting together with her friends to eat out, watch movies, and play card games. Sarah was a very loving mom and grandma. She found so much joy in spending time with her grandchildren, and she had a unique way of making each one feel special.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Dena Kolb, and an infant great grandson. She is survived by her son Jeff Douglas and wife Dana, son-in-law Robert “Bob” Kolb, and son Michael Douglas and wife Celeste. She leaves behind her grandchildren Jeff Douglas and wife Stephanie, Ben Douglas and wife Rachel, Conner Kolb and wife Leah, Jacob Kolb, Keeley Cline, Taylor Evenhouse and husband Jake, and Gavin Douglas. She also leaves behind her beloved great grandchildren Tripp Douglas, Audrey Douglas, Everleigh Evenhouse, and Sutton Evenhouse. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the caregivers at the Bertram Nursing Home and Magnolia Hospice who saw to Sarah’s needs in her last year.
Visitation will be held Tuesday October 15, 2024 from 1:00 PM- 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Burnet. A service will be held Tuesday October 15, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Burnet with Doug Lindley officiating. Graveside burial at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Burnet to follow.
