Sandra was born to Billy Lee Cameron and Isabelle Ann Cameron (Filak) in Taylor, Texas on August 26th, 1941. She grew up in Bartlett and graduated from Bartlett High School in 1959. She worked at Scott & White Hospital in Temple until her marriage to Larry K. Newell in 1966 and worked at SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic School in Granger in the 1990s. She lived in Indiana for several years after her marriage, but she always thought of Texas as home.
Sandra and her family returned to Texas in 1972, living in Irving, Brownwood, San Angelo, Denton, and Fredericksburg before returning to Central Texas and finally settling in Horseshoe Bay.
Sandra was a devoted wife and mother, and spent her life serving others by looking after her home and family. She believed that love was more than words, and showed her caring and compassion in action in a variety of ways, including looking after her own mother in her last years and final illness. Sandra herself experienced ill health in her later years, but she bore her sufferings with dignity and courage. Her Faith meant a great deal to her, and Sandra left this life fortified by the graces of the Sacraments and at peace, knowing she was loved by those she left behind and by the Redeemer she went on to meet.
Sandra is survived by her husband Larry; her sons Shawn, of Llano, Texas; Shannon, of Marble Falls; and Shane, of Taylor, Texas. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
A graveside service will be held at Central Texas State Veterans’ Cemetery in Killeen. Any memorial gifts may be made in her name to the charity of one’s choice.
Arrangements made by Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home Burnet, Texas.
In pace requiescat, et lux perpetua luceat. Amen.
