Rowena Reed

Rowena Lavern “Pat” Reed, age 77 of Georgetown, Texas passed away on June 28, 2012. She was born in Quinlan, Texas on July 20, 1934. The daughter of Oliver Thurmon and Nellie Arnold.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years Durwood Langford “Butch” Reed of Georgetown Texas; son and wife Michael Galen and Narda Reed of Temple, Texas; son and wife Damon Lynn and Rachel of China Spring, Texas; brother and wife Ron and Helen Arnold of Arlington, Texas; four nieces Susie Clark, Jaymie “Wanda” Kelley, Veronica Gunderson and Jackie Newkirk; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sister Barbara Earl and step-mother Eva Arnold and her parents, grandson Alexander Christian “Alex” Reed.

Pat was a loving wife, and mother, dedicating her life to taking care of her husband and her boys. Pat's loyalty and honesty allowed her to find jobs of trust for years going back to The Jonestown Store and ending with ten years as cashier at the Luby's. She was unmatched at cooking, and no one ever left her house hungry. With her fire red hair and temper to match, she protected and loved her husband and sons with the vigilance of a mother tiger. There was no task, no person, no challenge that Pat Reed feared or failed to conquer. Pat loved fully, worked tirelessly, and never gave up or gave in. We are proud to have been raised by, and loved by the person she was.... and we celebrate her life.

Funeral services will be Monday, July 2, 2012 at the Clements-Wilcox Chapel in Burnet, Texas at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Liberty Hill Cemetery. Condolences may be made at www.clementswilcoxburnet.com
