On February 15th, 2022, Ronald Jordan Harp made his transition to spirit at the age of 80. He entered this world on September 29, 1941 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Thomas Jordan Harp & M. Hailey. He truly lived life to the fullest.
Ron listed into the Navy on December 28, 1959 in Houston, Texas, where he served a total of four years in service and two years in the reserves when he was honorably discharged on January 17, 1964 in Kingsville, Texas. During this time, Ron was aboard the USS Wasp as the aviation radar equipment technician. He was aboard for a total of three years and three months.
Following this military career Ron enrolled into the University of Texas in Austin. He graduated in 1968 with a degree in professional engineering and began his career at Radian Corp before moving onto his goal of opening his own business.
As founder of Odessa Engineering, Ron decided to co-found H2NS Environmental to create hardware and software products geared towards environmental and meteorological data acquisition. He has such a passion for what he did, he continued to work his business up until his last days of life.
Ron had this belief that knowledge was something to always strive for. “Doesn’t really matter what you learn, just continue to get smarter.” This is where he began to learn Texas trivia and sharing it with people in his life through email. He strived to create a life that he could truly enjoy and look back on and say he accomplished all that he set out to do. The world was his oyster and he truly did make pearls from it.
Ron was a loving father and grandfather and great grandfather He will be deeply missed by his three children, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A private family burial of Ron’s ashes will be held at the Burnet City Cemetery.
