Patsy Ann Souther

On Sunday, August 28th, Patsy Ann Blanscet Souther, better known as “Granna Pat”, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. At the time of her death, she was living in Burnet to be close to family. She was born March 21, 1933 in Clay County to Frank and Loraine Blanscet.

Pat was the reason that the saying, “never met a stranger,” was created. Everyone that met her had a story to tell after their first meeting. Her spirited personality and hard work ethic were two characteristics that left a lasting memory on others. Pat was a florist for many years in Wichita Falls and Azle. She had a green thumb, and all plants would flourish in her hands. She was also an avid crafter who specialized in quilting. She enjoyed showing and telling others about all her different techniques. For many years, her and Dorsey would travel to craft shows selling their creations and making many friends along the way.

Pat was a special person to so many. She truly saw her friends as family and deeply cherished her relationships with others. Whether she talked to you every day or every few months, it was easy to pick right up when you received a call from her.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dorsey, her son Joe Souther, her son Bubba Brown, her brother Lester Blanscet, and her sister Frankie Murray.

Survivors include daughter, Angela Moore and husband Roger of Burnet, Texas. Grandchildren, Cindy Said and husband Gabe of Lewisville, TX, Charlie Brown of Washington, John Souther and wife Amber of Fort Worth, Texas, April Hanson and husband Roberto of Cedar Park, TX, Clayton Gray of Cushing, OK, Hannah Moore of Cedar Park, Ethan Gray of Cushing, OK, and Austin Moore of Burnet, TX. Great grandchildren, Griffin, Addie, Kaitlynn, John, Joey, Haley, Alyssa, Fisher, Gracie, Jackson, Max, Ashlynn, and Tinley. Two sisters, Jean Sweeney, Martha Jo Woody and many nieces, nephews. Cousin who was a close friend, John Peirce and wife Sherry and other family members of Rockport, TX. Lifelong friends in the Tammen Family and her devoted friend, Jim Rule.

Memorials may be made to the Hill Country Community Foundation, or the Clay County Pioneer Association in lieu of flowers.
