Michael Jay Sopp, 68 a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend went to be with the Lord on October 5, 2021. Mike was born in Hammond, Indiana on November 27, 1952 to Michael J. Sopp and Laura Evelyn Sopp. He spent a portion of his childhood in Indiana until he moved with his family to Burnet in 1965 where he would spend the remainder of his life in the Texas Hill Country.
Mike was astoundingly intelligent. He was a masterful electrician by trade and worked for many companies over his career. Stevens and Morris Electric, Morris Electric, Gould, and finally ATMI. He also had a knack for anything technical and was intrigued by computers and various technical devices. He could repair just about anything and could always be counted on to give one hundred percent to anything he tackled.
Mike’s life was devoted to his family and his work. He always had a sparkle in his eye for his many nieces and nephews who captured his heart from the very beginning. He had a heart of gold that always shined through when he was doing anything for his family. He will always be remembered for his infectious laugh and witty sense of humor.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Michael Sopp, mother, Laura Howell, stepfather, Lee Howell and sister, Laura Dougherty. He is survived by his brother, Steve Sopp, sisters, Patricia Morgan and Linda Wiggins.: 7 nieces and nephews- George Grimsley, Laura Juarez, Robert Marx, Jennifer McDuff, David Marx, Crissy Hinkle and Steven Sopp- 14 great nieces and nephews- Isabella Juarez, Ethaniel Juarez, Rian Sopp, Clayton Sopp, Bryson Sopp, Sadee Sopp, Clint Hinkle, Riley McDuff, Hayden McDuff, Mason Marx, Haley Cady, Jeremy Marx, Emma Marx and Claire Marx.
Graveside services will be held at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park on Tuesday October 12, 2021 at 11:00am.
