Linda Simmons Holland, 70, of Burnet, passed away peacefully with her family beside her at St. David’s Medical Center in Austin on March 5, 2019 following a brief and sudden illness. She was born Thursday, December 08, 1948 to Arthur and Lena Simmons in San Antonio where she was raised as the youngest of 5 siblings.
She was a graduate of Edison High School in San Antonio in 1967 and went on to study at San Antonio College. She married Allen Roger Holland, December 4, 1969 and they would have been married 50 years this coming December.
Linda and Roger moved to Burnet in 1973 to raise their only child, Matthew. Linda went to work as a paralegal for 20 years at the law offices of Alvin Nored. In February of 1993, she began working at the First State Bank of Burnet, focusing on real estate lending. She eventually became a loan officer at the bank where she remained a dedicated, full time employee at the time of her passing.
Linda was extremely involved in the community and was an active member of the Kiwanis club. She served on the Board of the Chamber of Commerce, holding two terms as the President. She was honored to have been a recipient of an “Outstanding Chamber Director Award” for 2005-2006. Her work in planning and organizing fund raising events for the Hill Country Community Foundation, and the Suzanne Johnson Scholarship Endowment were very important to her.
Linda had many accomplishments in her lifetime, but we know her greatest joy came with time spent with family. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother and felt those were her greatest accomplishments.
Linda is survived by her husband Roger Holland of Burnet; her son Matthew Holland and wife, Clairissa also of Burnet; grandchildren Emily Holland of Houston; Jacob Holland of Lubbock and Joel Holland of San Marcos; her sister, Joy Simmons Potts of San Antonio and many nieces and nephews.
