Gene was born in Austin, Texas on August 26, 1944, to Carl Oscar Petterson and Viola Petterson. He was the youngest of six children and is survived by one brother, Charles Petterson.
Gene graduated from McCallum High School in 1963 then served in the Navy for 4 years in California. Gene moved his family back to Austin where he worked as a plumber/pipe fitter in the local union in Austin. He later went to bible school in Dallas, Tx at CFNI and became a preacher before returning to the Austin area. He remained there until he retired to live full time at his home on Lake Buchanan, where he loved the water. (when it was there). Fishing, boating, and water skiing were activities he always enjoyed.
Gene had a wonderful sense of humor which he passed on to both his kids. He loved everyone and had a heart for helping others. He would often bring home people in need to help them get back on their feet. He ministered in jails and had the ability to meet people where they were with no judgement. Gene was loved deeply by his family and all those whose lives he touched.
Gene is preceded in joining the Lord by: his mother and father, Viola and Carl Petterson; his siblings, Patsy Jones, Dorothy Davis, David Petterson and Dixie Turner ; his grandson, Zachary Petterson.
He is survived by his wife, Vicky Petterson; his children, Cooper Petterson and Melissa Petterson-Hill; his brother, Charles Petterson. And many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, August 3rd, 2024, at 11:30am at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park near Burnet, Texas.
