Pops was born on October 11, 1944 to James and Bernice Carroll. After graduating as salutatorian from Bertram High School, class of 1963, Pops married Cynthia Carroll on April 6, 1973.
After graduating Pops went on to obtain a multitude of degrees and awards
Southwest Texas State University 1967- Bachelor of Science Agriculture with a Minor in Biology
Oklahoma State University 1967- 1969 Master of Science Animal Physiology
Dean’s List, Southwest Texas State University 1963-1967 for 8 Semesters
Delta Tau Alpha, Southwest Texas State University 1966 & 1967
National Agriculture Honor Society
National Science Foundation Fellowship Award, Oklahoma State University 1967 & 1969
Authored and Co-Authored several Research Papers in the library of the University of Texas at Austin.
Pops was drafted into the Army in 1969 where he served 2 years at Arlington Cemetery, leading the Caisson for lost Vietnam soldiers.
Pops was predeceased by James Carroll – Father, Bernice Carroll – Mother, Cynthia Carroll – Wife, Norene Boltinghouse – Sister, James Carroll Jr. – Brother, Mildred Carpenter – Sister, Jerry Scantlon – Sister.
Pops is survived by Kim Schaefer – Daughter, Konie Carroll – Daughter, Dylan Peteete – Grandson, Yvonne Sansome – Sister, Larry Carroll – Brother, Jeanine Davidson – Sister & Margie Estlack – Sister.
Pops was well known in the community and loved by everyone. He loved to play cornhole, dominoes, washers, shuffleboard and many other challenging games (where he normally came out on top!).
