Samuel is survived by his wife, Anita (海燕); children, Garbo Ng (吳家寶), Kelvin Ng (吳家煌) and Gabrielle Ng (吳家貝); son-in-law, and daughter-in-law, Yeuk Chan (陳若) and Lisa Ip (葉寶珊); grandchildren, Ryan Chan (陳梓浩), Luka Ng (吳碩峰), and Kyler Ng (吳卓軒); siblings, David (國杰) of Hong Kong, Francis (國藩) of Hong Kong, Mimi (幗眉) of Hong Kong, Fred (國煇) of Chicago, Dennis (國本) of Toronto, and Kwok Zhen (國鎮) of Hong Kong; and countless extended family members.
Samuel was born on February 10, 1933 in Hong Kong to Wai Kai Ng (吳偉佳) and Kwai Yin Fung (馮桂妍). After graduating from the University of Illinois with a Master degree, Samuel began his career in banking and finance as a management trainee at Citibank on Wall Street in New York. He returned to Hong Kong later and had worked at the Bank of Canton (廣東銀行) and Overseas Trust Bank (海外信託銀行). He was the General Manager at Chekiang First Bank (浙江第一銀行) before his retirement.
Samuel married Anita in 1971. Over the years, the couple welcomed Garbo, Kelvin, and Gabrielle into their home. In 1994, Samuel immigrated to Vancouver, Canada with his family to enjoy his retired life. His favorite pastimes were reading the newspapers, watching television, having a good meal with his family, and spending time with his pet budgies, koi and dog.
Samuel was best known for his accomplishments and success in his professional career and generosity to families and friends. His children remember him as a kind and loving father who respected their values and opinions and encouraged them to pursue their goals.
