It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of our father, Peter. After a two year struggle with kidney disease, Dad passed away in his sleep at Royal Columbian Hospital.
Predeceased by his wife Anne in 2004, survived by his brother Robert in England, his children Robert, Lynne (Graham), Christine (Barrie), and Wayne (Cindy), grandchildren, great grandchildren and other family and friends.
Dad was born in Birmingham, England. In 1935, he came to The Prince of Wales Fairbridge Farm School in Duncan on Vancouver Island, where he met our mother Anne in 1936. He was in the RCAF Medical Service from 1942-1946. Then he worked in sawmills for 15 years. In 1960, he began his career with Transport Canada, retiring in 1988 after being active in U.C.T.E. (Local 20219). Dad was a life time member of R.C.L. Branch #148, North Burnaby, where he served in many executive positions. Dad recently moved into The Poppy Residences of R.C.L. Branch #83.
We thank all of his new friends and staff who made Dad feel so welcome. The family would like to give a special thank you to all of the dialysis staff and appreciation to those in the C.C.U. at R.C.H.
A Celebration of Life will be held at R.C.L. Branch #148 (North Burnaby) on Sunday, December 12, 2010 from 2pm-4pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Kidney Foundation or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
