Miho Radonic

With sad hearts we announce that Miho Radonic passed away on Oct 4, 2024. Miho was born in Gruda, Konavle, Croatia on Jan 25, 1926. After living briefly in Italy, he immigrated to Canada in December 1960 with his wife, Stana and their young son, Nicola (Nick). He and his wife Stana soon had 3 more children and lived briefly in Ottawa until moving to Vancouver in 1965.

Miho, or Mike as he was known at work, was a cabinet maker and finishing carpenter until his retirement over 30 years ago. In his retirement he enjoyed caring for his grandchildren, growing fruit trees, and smelt fishing at Spanish Banks. He loved to tell stories of his family in the old country and how his father had lived in America in the early 1900’s.

He is predeceased by his 10 siblings. Miho is survived by his wife, Stana, sons Nick and Joe and daughters Lina and Mary. His 9 grandchildren are Peter, Sarah, Nicholas, Cecile, Nina, Gregory, Jacob, Caleb, and Matea who will miss their ‘djeda’. He loved to say a parting phrase “wish you best” with a smile on his face.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday Oct 22 at 10 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Croatian Catholic Church, at 3105 E. 1st Ave, Vancouver. Interment to follow at 12:00 pm, at Ocean View Burial Park, South Mausoleum, at 4000 Imperial St., Burnaby. There will be a reception at the Ocean View Reception Room afterwards, 1-3 pm.
