It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father, Luigi Vampa. Dad arrived with Mom and Cosimo to Canada in October 1964, from Mammola, Reggio Calabria, Italy. Luigi is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Nancy (Annunziata); sons, Cosimo (Stephanie), Joe (Maria), and Domenico; and grandchildren, Serena (Dave), Christina, Lucas (Natalie), and Brianna (Nick). He is also survived by a brother (Salvatore) and four sisters (Rosa, Maria, Carmela, and Caterina) in Belgium and Italy. Luigi worked as a landscaper, as a lawnmower technician for Dunbar Sharpening for 17 years and eventually opened up his own business on Victoria Drive, called Vampa's Lawnmower Clinic. He enjoyed working in the garden with Mom, making wine, and sharing a glass with neighbours, many friends and relatives. He was much loved and cared for by Mom, who saw to his every need. Our father never once complained while his health was declining. He slowly lost his ability to walk over the past two years. The family would like to thank Dr. Wong, all the doctors and nurses who cared for him at Vancouver General Hospital, where he received first class care. We would also like to thank the staff from the South Hill Community Centre, the home support staff, and Nurse Next Door support staff. We also would like to thank the Red Cross for providing all the necessary aids over the past two years, allowing Dad to live at home. Our family would like to also acknowledge our extended family, the Amorettos, Raschellas Florios. Prayers Tuesday, February 27 at 8 p.m., St. Andrew's Church, 480 E. 47th Avenue, Vancouver. Funeral Service Wednesday, February 28 at 11:00 a.m., St. Andrew's. Followed by entombment at Oceanview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Red Cross.
