I just stumbled on to this obituary. Laddie and I were best friends through high school at St John’s. We played on all the sports teams (along with Chris Kawaza), and she was an exceptional track and field athlete, especially in high jump. And we had many fun times in our spares, doing homework together in study hall, hanging out around the gym during Social Dance class so we could invited in if the class was short of girl partners, and watching the boys high school teams play on Friday night. After high school we lost touch as she began her nursing career!  I remember many walks to and from school, to and from North Main Salisbury House on weekends, etc.   I see that she ended up in BC, and I am in Alberta. 

My sympathies and regards to her family. I know that there will be an empty space in the hearts of all who loved her.

I met Laddie 2000 when I was a newbie hemodialysis nurses, Laddie the charge nurse was intense n stern, Laddie gave orders. There was a soft Laddie, often appeared in my room looking for on call night nurse.  Of course I hit her soft spot, she loved a hard bargain. 
I’d said, “ Laddie I can take the call, can I work in D room next stretch?” She would say, “it’s done.” 
I loved working with Laddie, she was a fair n resourceful charge nurse to me. 
She will be remembered by all who knew her. 
My deepest condolences to her loving family n friends. 

I had the pleasure of working with Laddie for many years. She was the kind of nurse you always hoped was working on your shift. Capable and reliable. Maybe a little scary in the early days !
We had lots of laughs and fun off duty too.
She left us far too soon x

We liked to go to Lighthouse Park, sit on the benches on a sunny summer day and enjoy a small picnic. 
May the lighthouse guide your to a similar oasis. It will remind me of those times we enjoyed together.

I first met Laddie when I was learning to be a Renal Nurse at VGH.
She was very supportive and helpful while I was learning. We had a few laughs because people would call out Laddie or Patty and you couldn’t always tell who they wanted as the names sounded similar.
Over time we became good friends. We worked together for many years at St. Paul’s Hospital Renal Program. She was one of my Dad’s favourite nurses who looked after him at the Travelers Dialysis Clinic. We had many good times at partys and dinners. She came to my place in North Vancouver where we sat in the hot tub and solved the problems of the world. Although in recent years I have been living in Medicine Hat Alberta we always kept in touch. She was a special friend and I miss her very much. My prayers and thoughts are with David and Christian. Patty

I remember Laddie and her straight back stride (in her white bikini)  into our nursing school pool area. She was gorgeous -- a knockout. And she was smart and confident. We lost touch after nursing graduation in 1973. I am happy to read that Laddie kept that  same powerful and beautiful presence throughout her life.  Journey well Laddie. 

I first met Laddie when I joined the Renal Program as the staffing clerk in 1997.   We have shared so much over the years, when I told her that I was surprised that we were friends, Laddie’s response was “ We had too much in common not to be friends”
I will miss our conversations, impromptu visits to her fabulous rooftop deck on a warm Summer day, the yearly Christmas Play and dinner, travelling with you, so many memories. You lived your life to the fullest and on your own terms.  I miss you greatly.






I met Laddie in the summer of '82 as a new renal nurse at VGH. I will never forget the tough exterior she displayed and as my preceptor she was determined that I learn how to do things right! So much of what she taught me I practiced throughout my nursing career.

As we got to know each other, a mutual respect developed which led to a friendship that lasted a lifetime.
Through the years we shared so much.  We partied hearty, celebrated events, - the most special being Christian's birth <3, travelled together a couple of times and truly just enjoyed life.
We supported one another through many arduous times, hardships, and losses too.

I am grateful for having Laddie in my life. I will forever remember the love and fierce loyalty Laddie so freely gave to me.
I have been slowly missing you my dear friend over the last year or so and now I will always. Love you.

Sending loads of love and healing to Christian and his family. I have so many wonderful memories of our times in Osoyoos and the may silly gatherings during the summer months together. I will never forget her she left a permanent mark on my heart. With so much love Lisa and Rob Weir and boys.

I first met Laddie working in the Renal Unit at VGH! I had never met anyone more glamorous and confident! Laddie would work a night shift and then go to the beach to sleep - she loved the sun! My husband Garry and I were good friends of Dave and Laddie’s and spent many a night laughing and dancing at the disco!! Laddie was definitely a force to be reckoned with. Although we weren’t close in these last few years whenever we did meet I thoroughly enjoyed seeing her and catching up with her. Blessed journey Laddie!🙏❤️ 

Laddie and I have been close friends since 1979.
We met at VGH where we worked together in the Renal Unit. 
We shared many important milestones throughout our friendship .  Laddie was there when my two  children were born .They always referred to her as Auntie Laddie. I was at her side when she married David and shared Laddie’s joy when Christian was born. I was honoured with the  title Godmother and Guardian to Christian . We  lost good friends and had each other’s shoulder to cry on. We shared tears of sadness and tears of joy . Our two families spent many summer holidays in Osoyoos where Laddie met my friends and family . I also got to know her wonderful  family. . Aunty Laddie was there to celebrate when my children got married and grandchildren were born. 
There were times we were ar different stages in our lives but we  stayed In touch and  always picked up where we left off .

I met Laddie when we were 5 years old, starting Kindergarten at Strathcona School in Winnipeg, the beginning of a lifelong friendship. Young Laddie was serious, determined, and really smart. We shared a love for reading and spent hours together with our noses in a book. In junior and senior high, Laddie and I played Volleyball, Basketball and spent hours running and training for Track and Field. Laddie was a fabulous sprinter and high jumper. She continued to shine academically and decided on a nursing career upon graduation from St. John’s High School. 
Eventually, we lost contact and it was to be another 30 years before we found each other again. We laughed as both of us described the efforts we made to locate our childhood friend and in the end, Laddie was living in Vancouver and I was in the Okanagan. We enjoyed some wonderful visits over the next few years and I was happy to meet Laddie’s much loved son, Christian and some of her friends.
My beautiful friend had matured into a fun loving, adventurous spirit,  with so much style and grace. She used her passion and intelligence in her career to improve the lives of others and she lived her own life to the fullest, without regret.  She was devoted to her family and friends.  She will be lovingly remembered and terribly missed. 

She was the best neighbour and cook a girl could ask for.  She was a lady with class.
