June 13th,1939 - February 29th, 2024
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, and grandmother, Katarina. She is leaving behind a legacy of love, spirit, feistiness, and many cherished memories. She is predeceased by her husband, Martin Vukosavic. Katarina will be lovingly remembered by her children, Sandy Ryant and Mato Vukosavic, and her grandchildren, Cayla, Serena, Matthew and Jordan.
Katarina, better known as Kata, was born and raised in Croatia and she immigrated to Canada with her husband Martin and they settled in Vancouver. For many years, Kata stayed home raising her children while her husband was out of town working. As her children got older, Kata ventured out into the workforce, and she loved working at the various hospitals in the lower mainland. She had a knack for cooking and baking, which was enjoyed by family and friends, and she found great satisfaction working in her garden.
Kata leaves a terrible void in our family and our hearts. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She had a beautiful smile and a feisty personality. She was caring, and giving and was always there for her family. She will be sadly missed and remembered by all who knew her.
Her grandchildren affectionately called her Baka. She was diminutive in stature, but enormous in spirit. She was small but she was mighty. She was a woman with a giant heart and a playful sense of humour. May she rest in peace. She will be missed, but her love and her light will forever shine in our hearts.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary Croatian Church, 3105 East 1st Avenue on Wednesday, March 13th at 11:00 am, followed by a graveside service at Ocean View Burial Park (Heaven's Gate). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Heart and Stroke Foundation. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.bellburnaby.com.
