Julka (Julie) Petrovic aged 91 passed away in the early hours of July 5th 2015. Born a Christmas baby on January 8th 1924 to Mladen and Ljubica Vasiljevic in the rolling hills of her beloved Knezevi Vinogradi Yugoslavia, she is predeceased by her husband Milan Petrovic born Dec. 18 1921 in Beograd. Her legacy is entrusted to her sons Robert (Jacquie) Petrovic, Randy (Jean) Petrovic and Michael ( Anne-Marie ) Petrovic and her many accomplished and creative grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Julka devoted her life to the care and consideration of those that had the privilege of her presence in their lives, and sacrificed all that was her in order that others could live in dignity and freedom. She served in the unselfish care of others in the Prince George Regional Hospital for many years and later transferred to Richmond General Hospital from where she retired as an active care giver. Truly a one man woman she devoted her life to her three sons and their understanding that they must live life to their greatest potential, resolve to never accept the destruction of human dignity and true democracy and learn to live and let live. As a young girl she became a standard bearer for the righteous defence of democratic process and believed no human should live their life on bended knee. She made the commitment to help build a new and better life for all by her flight to Canada after her beloved country fell into the hands of a disrespectful and totalitarian influence. Riding the rails from Halifax to Vancouver she joined her fighter pilot husband and began the great journey of discovery and adventure in their new found freedom. Ahead of her time Julka believed a woman's right to equal and just standing within her community and was a champion in the pursuit of hard and honest work ethic. Julie's book of life is one of many victories and is filled with adventures that would rival any James Bond novel. Never one to back down from her beliefs she was always mindful that even though one may not agree with what is said, one must always defend a person's right to say it. Julka may have been small in structure but she was huge in esteem. In lieu of flowers she would much prefer one make a donation to organizations dedicated to betterment of others lives.
