It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and friend, Jong-Kun Yoon, whose adventurous spirit and boundless generosity left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. Surrounded by his family, he eased into eternal rest on Thursday, December 5th.
Born to Jae-Yong Yoon and In-Soon Lee, Jong-Kun grew up in South Korea, where his curiosity and sense of wonder were evident from a young age. His life was defined by a thirst for adventure and an enduring love for life’s simple joys. Whether it was exploring nature, tackling challenges with an unwavering determination, or sharing stories that sparked laughter and inspiration, he approached every moment with a twinkle in his eye and a sense of wonder.
A man of great humor and a playful spirit, he was known for his iconic wink and the loud, booming voice that filled every room he entered in his earlier days. Yet, beneath his lively exterior lay a heart of immense compassion. Dad had an extraordinary ability to connect with others, always offering a helping hand, words of encouragement, or acts of generosity that made a difference in countless lives. His sacrifices for his family and others reflected his deep love and unwavering commitment to his community.
Faith was a cornerstone of Dad’s life. He loved his God and his church with all his heart, living a life that exemplified dedication, humility, and service. His values of kindness, hard work, and caring for others were evident in every facet of his life, inspiring all who knew him.
Above all, Dad was a family man. He shared a deep and abiding love with his wife, Bok-Rye Yoon, and remained a devoted husband throughout his life. His children— Ike Ik-Soo Yoon (Mia), Kay Kyong-Jin Kim (Dae), Kate Kyong-Soon Bostick (Jeremy), Kathy Kyong-Ju Richardson (Jamie) and his nephew Charles Boo-Yul Lee (Lisa) were the light of his life, and he poured his heart into raising them with love, wisdom, and encouragement.
Dad was a proud grandfather to Amanda, Justin, Cassandra, Christopher, Brandon, Nathaniel, Madeleine, Aliyah, Ethan, and Jack. He found immense joy in their laughter, accomplishments, and the many moments they shared, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
A man of endless curiosity and a tireless work ethic, Dad taught us to embrace life’s adventures, to approach challenges with courage, and to give generously and unselfishly. He showed us that even the simplest gestures of kindness can have the greatest impact.
As we bid farewell to our beloved father, we take solace in the legacy of love, faith, and compassion he leaves behind. He has touched the hearts of so many and will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A celebration of Dad’s life will be held at 11am on Thursday, December 19th at Ocean View Funeral Home.
We love you, Dad. Your adventurous spirit, warm smile, and big heart will forever be our guide.
