It is with heavy hearts we announce that Giuseppe (Joe) Giovinazzo passed away peacefully on July 14, 2012 after a short battle with cancer. He will be sadly missed and forever remembered by his loving family, including wife Jackie, children Vicki (Jim), Sherri (Steve), Cindy (Doug) and Joe (Marina), 13 grandchildren, as well as his siblings Rocky (Sylvia), Tony (Lenora), Teresa (Vito) and predeceased by his sister Stella (Carlo). Joe was a self-employed Auto Repair Shop Owner of T & J Service (Texaco) in partnership with his brother Tony on Hastings Street. Their eldest brother Rocky owned and operated Rocky's Meats which was just across the street. Together with his brothers, the 'Giovinazzo's' were well known in the North Burnaby area for decades. Joe's home on his acre of land was his oasis and we have spent many precious moments with him as this is what he considered to be 'God's Country', tending his gardens, working in the garage, making wine and sausages. Joe was so very proud to provide a playground for his children and now his grandchildren in his immaculate backyard, jumping on the trampoline, running through his vineyard, playing a game of soccer (using the fig trees as nets of course!), and eating marshmallows by the bonfire that could only be done at Nonno's house. We believe that he is in a better place, enjoying a good glass of wine, and celebrating his life with us. He will never be forgotten and will always be in our hearts. Funeral Mass to be held at 11am, on Monday July 23rd at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, 555 South Slocan Street, Vancouver. Entombment to follow at Ocean View Burial Park South Mausoleum, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby. Public Viewing from 6-8pm, Sunday, July 22nd at Bell Funeral Chapel, 4276 Hastings Street, Burnaby. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the BC Cancer Agency.
