It is with great sadness that the family of Darryl Young announce his sudden passing on Aug 25th, 2017 in Surrey. He will be dearly missed by Joanne, son Jeff, daughter Kelly (Kip) and grandchildren Christopher, Nia, Ella and Ryan Elizabeth, brother Derrick, sisters Roz (Don) and Candy (Mike), good friend Bev and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Jimmy and Irene Young, and sister Sharone. Darryl was a long time member of UA Local 170 and began his career as a journeyman plumber in 1969 and over the years also received accreditation as a gas/pipe/steamfitter and cross connection control specialist, working for many firms in the lower mainland. In 1998, he joined Simon Fraser University maintenance team and worked there until his retirement. Darryl (aka “The Pipe King”) will be remembered for his witty sense of humour and kind heart. He was a Sudoku master, loved to play ping pong, pickleball and canasta with many friends and always enjoyed Coney Island fish and chips with his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
