Our beloved Wife, Mom and Grandmother, passed away at the age of 78. Angie was born in Shaoguan, Guongdong, China, as the oldest of 6 children in the family. She moved to Hong Kong in 1950s and had to quit school in grade 4 to help to raise her younger sisters and brothers and to support the parents financially. She worked hard with numerous jobs in sewing and toy factories. At the same time, she was surrounded by the people in Faith Hope Lutheran Church and where she accepted Jesus Christ as a born again Christian. Later on, she met her husband Po Kit and got married in 1967 in church. She then had two children, Ellen and William. For the rest of her life, she is a dedicated housewife to take care of her husband, children and then grandchildren (Lucas and Kirsten). The Wong family immigrated to Saskatoon, Canada in the 1980s. Husband moved back to Hong Kong a year after to secure financing for the family. She took care of children until they admitted to the university. Then she went back to Hong Kong to continue taking care of her husband until his retirement in the 1990s. Thereafter, Burnaby has been the family's home town always. Besides family, she was always active in church fellowship and as a volunteer in the community centre. She had always been a committed member of the Vancouver Chinese Choir since the 1990s and had won perfect attendance for several years. In 2009, she was diagnosed with lung cancer. By God's grace, He placed His miracle for everyone for another 11 years.
Angie loved cooking, eating, singing, travelling and serving meals with family, friends and in the community and church. Wherever she went, she was able to make friends beyond the language and cultural barriers. She was dedicated to providing a lot of laughter for his family, relatives and friends. She was a fun-loving, cheerful, honest and energetic person always with a kind heart and sweet smile. Her husband and children benefited from her dedication and love for her family. She made lives enjoyable for everyone with her capacity.
Sincere thanks to Dr. Jeanie Wong and her staff, Vancouver General Hospital, Burnaby Hospital and St. Michael's Hospice for their endless support and compassionate care even during the time of COVID.
