Lou was born on April 2, 1925 in Pittston, PA to Biagio and Maria Montante. One of six children, the family moved to Buffalo, NY in 1941. Lou served in the US Army, Heavy Artillery Division, during WWII, and received the purple heart, amongst other medals, during his service. In 1955, he moved to Burbank, California. Lou met and later married the love of his life, Carmelina, on Sept. 5, 1959 and had three children. He worked for ITT General Controls and ITT Aerospace as a machinist and die caster for 35 years. Lou's favorite sport was watching football and his home team, the Buffalo Bills. He was good with his hands and creative in carpentry. Lou had a quick wit and a sweet tooth. A true family man, he enjoyed being surrounded by his friends and loved ones. To quote a friend, "The Mayor has a new town."
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carmelina, children Matthew & wife Danetta, Michael, and Lou-Ann. Papa will be dearly missed by his grandchildren Meghan, Erin, Anthony and Dominic.
He was preceded in death by brothers Leo and Mike and survived by sisters Leona, Margaret and brother John and their families.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Villa Scalabrini in his memory.
