William Vernon De Lay, 88, passed away on February 17, 2024 in Bullhead City, Arizona. He was born on November 14, 1935 in Dexter, New Mexico to William Canada De Lay and Lola Z. Seale. He proudly served in the Navy for 4 years and also worked for years at Crystal Bottle Waters. He moved to Needles in 1973 and worked for P.G. & E. On September 17, 1961 he married the love of his life, Ruth. They were married over 60 years before she passed on December 26, 2021. He was a member of the LDS Church for 50 years and served as Bishop for 6 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife Mary Ruth (O’Brien) De Lay; his son, William Kelly De Lay; and 2 brothers, Roy and Dale De Lay.
He is survived by his 2 daughters, Charlotte Michelle (George) Yandell and Sandra Lynn (John) LoPresti; his son, Robert Henry Van Dyne Jr.; his sister, Sharon (Bob) Shilling; 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and family friends. He will be greatly missed.
A visitation is scheduled for Monday, March 4, 2024 at 9:30 am with the funeral service following at 10 am at the Needles LDS Church, 2001 El Monte Street, Needles, CA 92363. The graveside will immediately follow the church service. A reception will be held at the LDS Church after the graveside burial.
