Peter Belcher, aka "Hazel". Peter was a quiet man with a big heart, he loved beer and was the kind of man that sat at the end of the bar. A little crusty on the outside and a big marshmallow on the inside. He always put others before himself, and treated his friends like family, he would give the shirt off his back if he knew you. Peter was loved by many, including his friends, Pat and Mike whom he resided with since 2021, they shared a heartfelt friendship for twenty-five years.
Peter retired from the Navy after twenty years of service, followed by another twenty years with Teamsters. He had many hobbies and was a huge Notre Dame fan and was torn between a 49er fan and the teams Tom Brady played on. He was an Alaskan fisherman and still laughed at the three stooges to this day. Peter had a deep passion for classic cars and enjoyed going to car shows, in which he participated in while residing in California by starting off with a 1930 Ford Model A, and later had a 1953 Mercury Monterey, mild custom. More recently he would surf the internet for car shows and thought about buying another turnkey.
Peter is preceded in death by his loving wife, Carol Belcher; parents, Lewis and Josephine (Miller) Belcher; brothers, Lewis and Jerry Belcher; sisters, Florence Smith and Rosemary Romo.
He is survived by his son, Noel Ward (Leann) of Bencia, California; grandchildren, Ryleigh and Cameron Ward; nephews, Ed Dille (Teresa) and Jamey Dille (Dawn), and several grandnieces and nephews, and many friends spread across the US.
In the words of Peter Belcher "You can’t stay out and hoot with the owls If you want to soar with eagles"
Peter will be missed by all who knew him. Arrangements were placed in the care of Dimond & Sons Silver Bell Chapel. A chapel service with honors will be held, Friday, October 4, 2024, at 9:20am at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
