Marvin A. Schneider, 77, of Bryan, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2011. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 17 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan with a rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 18, at St. Joseph Catholic
Church in Bryan. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cyclone. Marvin was born January 18, 1934 in his family’s home in Cyclone, to Alois Schneider and Mary (Hoelscher) Schneider. He went to school in Cyclone through the 8th grade. He graduated from Rogers High School in 1951. Marvin wanted to go to college at Texas A&M but his father died in 1954, and he had to take care of his family. He moved his mother, sister and brother to Temple. He lived in Temple for 17 years. He married Geraldine (Strmiska) Schneider in 1958. He worked for 7-11 stores until he moved to Bryan in 1972. He owned and operated Jimmy’s Drive In Grocery and Marvin’s Drive In Grocery in Navasota. He was known as “Starvin Marvin” in Navasota. He loved being a grocery man and visiting with all his customers. Talking to people was one of his greatest joys in life. Marvin retired in 1999. Marvin was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan where he served as an usher for 38 years. He was also a member of the Age Managers Group at church. Marvin was a devout Roman Catholic his entire life. His faith and wife were anchors in his life. His hobbies included traveling, dancing, and spending time with his family. A family reunion was his favorite place to be. Marvin enjoyed going to their cabin on their farm at Cyclone and visiting St. Joseph Catholic Church at Cyclone. He loved Aggie football and was a season ticket holder for 27 years. He took great pride in the fact that all three of his daughters graduated from Texas A&M University. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Geraldine (Strmiska) Schneider of Bryan; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Ramona Sue Schneider of Bryan, Kay Huff and husband, Kirk, of College Station, Jackie Stroble and husband, Ross, of Tomball; six grandchildren, Jennifer Robinson and husband, Troy, of Houston, Robert Colby Allen of Dover, N.H., Dustin Huff of San Marcos, and Dylan Huff of College Station, Ross Stroble V and Jett Stroble of Tomball; brother, Richard Schneider; and one
