Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30am, Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan, with Msgr. John McCaffrey officiating. Visitation for Luke will be from 6pm-8pm, Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. A rosary will be recited Tuesday at 7pm at the funeral chapel.
Luke was born on February 21, 1946 in Bryan, Texas to Sam and Rosie (Collette) Rizzo. He spent his entire life in Bryan. On June 5, 1966, Luke married Mary Jo Altimore, of Caldwell. The couple was later divorced. Then on July 1, 1972, Luke married Dorothy “Dottie” Borski, of Anderson. The couple shared 38 years of marriage, until the passing of Dottie.
Throughout his life, he worked many jobs to provide for his family. Some of his previous employers include Schlitz, Coca Cola, BTU, the City of Bryan Water Dept., and running a business of his own, Chap’s. He ranched his whole life and found great happiness being surrounded by his cows.
Luke was an avid member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he served as an usher for many years.
He also enjoyed hanging out with friends while sharing stories over a cold beer. Luke will always be remembered for the love he had for his family and friends and his hard work ethic. He had strong, old fashioned values and will power, which he held on to with dignity. He also had an undeniable and unbreakable bond with his grandson, Lucas that pushed him every day.
Luke was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Rosie (Collette) Rizzo, his wife, Dottie (Borski) Rizzo, and his brother in law, Monte Nicholson.
Luke is survived by his daughters and son in laws, Melissa (Rizzo) and Russell Miller, of Cypress and Margaret (Rizzo) and Chris Morgan of Franklin; grandchildren Brett Miller of San Antonio, Kristen (Miller) Johnson and husband Ryan of Houston, and Lucas Rizzo of Bryan; brother and sister in law, Johnny and Kay Rizzo of Bryan; sister, Theresa (Rizzo) Nicholson of Bryan; special friend and partner of 11 years, Kathy Warren of Bryan; and other extended family and friends.
We all hold dear our most beloved memories shared throughout his life. Our hearts can now be at peace knowing that his health problems are gone and he is now with God and reunited with loved ones. The family would like to thank all the family and friends that have reached out with so many loving thoughts and prayers.
The family invites you to join them after burial for a reception at St. Joseph Pac Center.
