Louise R. Goswick, 89, passed away the morning of September 17 surrounded by family. A memorial service will be held September 23, her 90th birthday, 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Bryan.
Louise was born September 23, 1932 in Galveston to Thomas Polk Randall and Lucy Vida Harper Randall and grew up in Galveston, La Marque, Houston, Kennedale, and Fort Worth. She attended Paschal High School in Fort Worth, College in Austin at the University of Texas where she was a member of the Tri Delta sorority and graduated from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth with a Degree in Education. Louise added to what she called her “Fairy Tale Life” when while teaching at Kindley Air Force Base in Bermuda, she met Claude B Goswick Jr., MD. While in Bermuda, they got married on April 4, 1959. After Bermuda, Claude and Louise moved to Hendersonville, North Carolina where Claude began his private medical practice.
In 1973, the family moved and settled in Bryan when Claude became the Director of Student Health at the Texas A&M University Health Center. The family attended First Presbyterian Church in Bryan where Louise and Claude sang in the choir.
She was an elementary and middle school teacher, Bible Study Fellowship Leader, advocate for Tri Delta at Texas A&M University, Women’s Medical Auxiliary, member of Daughters of the American Revolution, and a Pink Lady at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She also held many membership and leadership positions in local groups. She enjoyed playing Bridge, travelling, and line dancing. In 2012 she formed a social group with other local Widows, called “The Widow’s Mite”.
As a lasting memory to her family she wrote two books, “Prayer, Prairie Dogs, and God’s Providence” and “Weesie’s Words of Wisdom” and provided each family member a copy.
Louise is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Polk and Lucy Vida Randall, brothers Tom “T J” Randall, Jr, Dave Randall, sister Mary Randall Cole, and her husband of 53 years, Claude.
Louise was proud of her four boys, Richard and wife Tina, David and wife Tracy all of Houston, Ben and wife Debbie of San Antonio, and Cameron and wife Brenda of Sugar Land. Known to all of her family as “Grandmother” she is grandmother to grandsons Chris, Michael, Austin, Bryan, Cole, Kyle, Drew, Cameron, Collin, Connor, Cullen and granddaughter Jillian. She is also a great grandmother to Parker, Carson, Cooper, Hannah, Jameson, Kinsley, Daniel, Liam, Cadence, Thomas, Violet, Phoenix, Kendall, and counting…..
The Goswick Family is grateful for the kind and knowledgeable care of physicians, nurses, therapists, and hospital staff of St Joseph’s Hospital and Encompass Rehabilitation Hospital of Bryan. Their care and support has made an enduring impression for our family to treasure.
